• #461 Fallen From Grace Cause I Been Away Too Long

  
  
  
  I originally wanted to do a double feature video post but I think I have to delay the second part to tomorrow. No need to explanation for the above video, right?
  Sorry for the sound quality. But I had to struggle with my buzzing mics.
  
  Well, today was a sad day here too, since a massive funeral was held for the victims of a tremendous explosion in the tuscanian city of Viareggio. To make a long story short. A night train transporting GPL exploded after derailing. Two buildings immediately fallen into pieces and for 14 persons there were nothing to do. More than 40 injuried and, 15 of them with serious life risk. In the end there were 22 dead and hundreds evacuated from their places.
  More than 30'000 visited the chapel of the rest. Looks like my country's living a mass tragedy every month. What's going on?
  
  Anyway, yesterday I got the first pictures of our gig. I'm not going to post the first one, since I look really bad in it. The drummer said he sent out a second mail with further three pics, but nobody ever received it. Hopefully tonight's the right one.
  Too bad the drummer is not visible in this one (ironicly enough, his girlfriend took the pic). But, by the way, that's our first gig pic! Hooray hooray!
  
  
  
  I noticed two things I usually don't.
  First. The guitarist holds his guitar really high on his waist. Like some kind of power metaller. And well, he is a power metaller.
  Second. I keep my bass really low. Thinking about it, that's the most obvious reason. My right arm is not forced to bend too much and my one-two continuous playing with my first two fingers goes smooth.
  Anyway, I'm dying to see the pictures that singer's boyfriend took. And dying also for watching the DVD the keyboardist prepared. Dying for too many things.
  
  I should had borrowed a Laney 120W amplifier from a colleague but today's weather was horrible and he cannot even take it out from his apartment without wetting it up. Hopefully tomorrow I'll test it. Right after coming back from Switzerland. Gas seller strike in Italy. And, coincidence, I'm low with it.
  Good thing Switzerland's not on strike...
  
  Sulla morte di Michael Jackson ci posso anche scherzare su, anche perchè non ha rappresentato per me ciò che ha rappresentato per altri. Ma su quella dei cittadini di Viareggio che, sapete tutti come sono morti, no.
  Coincidentalmente oggi è il giorno di entrambi i funerali. Tra colleghi avevamo supposto, sperando di no, che la TV proponesse una diretta da Viareggio ed uno speciale funeral-maratona da dove-lo-mettono simile all'atterraggio sulla Luna a reti unificate per Micheletto-che-il-negretto-un-vuò-fa.
  
  Qui su Xanga sembra che TUTTI abbiano dovuto dedicare un post a MJ, proclamandosi tutti spudoratamente fan e dicendosi disperati per la sua morte.
  Ok, però qui parliamo di un cantante che è improduttivo dal 2001! In quel periodo ero in Islanda e ricordo chiaramente le vetrine dei negozi di musica con la locandina del suo ultimo disco ("Invincible"). E correggetemi se sbaglio.
  Un cantante che era praticamente sparito dalle scene (non faceva concerti, non faceva album) e le uniche apparizioni erano su giornali di gossip mascherato come un pagliaccio. Per favore...
  
  Qui sopra, per la gioia di chi non c'era, ecco la prima foto della nostra serata. l'unico che non si vede è Simone il batterista, nonostante la foto l'abbia fatta la sua fidanzata. Pubblicherò anche quelle fatte dal fidanzato della cantante. Quando le avrò.
  
  Notavo anche che il chitarrista tiene la chitarra molto alta e io invece non credevo di averlo così basso..il basso. Roba da Simon Gallup ancora un pò. Però è una posizione perfetta per suonare con le dita. Le classiche cavalcate metal suonano senza problemi e le dita corrono benissimo. Forse per via del fatto che non piego il braccio. Chissà.
  
  Meglio non notare il mio piccolo, pessimo, amplificatore. Soprattutto se paragonato alla mastodontica attrezzatura del chitarrista. Testata Brunetti valvolare e cassa Hughes & Kettner.
  Oggi dovevano prestarmi un Laney per basso da 120W (suppongo l'R2) ma, vista la pioggia, il mio collega non se l'è sentita di portarlo fuori casa. Mi farei un'idea del suono almeno. Prima di andare ancora per negozi.
