Yay!, I can conclude that this weekend was really good! More than good. Excellent I would say. Not only on the musical side of myself but also about my other big passion: photography.
Finally my two 120 rolls were ready and I went to get them from the lab in Milan. My Diana F+ is giving me more and more satisfactions.
The thing I like is this overlaying effect. It seems telling some kind of story, giving a weird effect of time passed by. I love it. Overlayed pictures are a good way to experiment and people is the best subject to express this technique at its best. In example this other one is something I quite proud of. I just took a normal picture and then used again the camera upside down this time. That's what I got.
Object are fine too, but I still think that persons are the best for this. Anyway, that's another picture I love. I love the colours and that kind of lo-fi looking on my basses.
All these picture were crossprocessed while developing and beside some looks weird, some other looks mean. Not that special. Anyway, I kept them away from this post :). The others are on my flickr account, as usual, and the link is here on the right. Another thing I got really impressed about was the price of the whole work. Printing 25 pictures on 12X12cm and developing with xprocess it costed me just 5.75€. Really nothing.
Last time I paid much more and obtained a more awful result. They even printed me out the negative on paper! Something I can't even use for obvious reasons. Then, even their print on cd. I just had to come back home and scan all the pictures. It took less than what I thought and the result is not bad at all. That cd costed me almost 5€. And, by the way, they scanned the pictures, not the negative films. That means that they scanned negative exposures again. Had to revert on positive with an editing program. Again, what a waste.
Saturday, finally, from Durham NC (North Carolina?) I got the package with the delay unit and sensor for high speed photography. I still haven't assembled it, since I was quite busy in the last days, but I'm counting on doing it soon and check if I need some other thing such as wireless sensors or other. Then, ready to drop down water all around!
Il weekend che è appena finito è stato molto fruttuoso dal punto di vista meramente artistico. E non parlo quindi del solo lato musicale. Insomma, tutto questo pistolotto per dire che ho sviluppato le foto a medio formato fatte con la Diana F+. E i risultati li potete vedere qui intorno. Non esagero se dico che sono più eccitanti gli scatti che faccio con questa (merito forse della sua imprevedibilità) che quelli fatti con la digitale. Addirittura, tempo fa pensavo di passare ad una reflex migliore e ampliare il mio parco ottiche con un supergrandangolare. Progetti rinviati nel tempo, anche perchè darei la precedenza ad una LOMO ora.
Comunque, il prezzo devo dire che è molto conveniente. Ho sviluppato 2 rullini con rispettivamente 12 e 16 foto (e credo che tre non siano venuti del tutto) stampandole a 12X12cm e il prezzo totale è stato di 5.75€ (certo, ci sono dovuto anche andare a Milano, due volte), ma il risultato vale lo sforzo.
Oltretutto ho avuto modo di scatenarmi con la sovrapposizione di immagini ed ho concluso che i soggetti migliori per sovrapporre scatti sono comunque le persone. Ad esempio, la prima foto in alto. Racconta una specie di storia, senza parole. Una storia fatta di due fotogrammi e basta. Oppure la seconda. Mi è bastato capovolgere la macchina fotografica per avere quell'effetto quasi da morphing.
Devo però ammettere che quei filtri colorati dei flash, più li uso e meno mi piacciono. Il risultato mi pare opaco e artefatto. Eppoi ho l'impressione che il crossprocessing e la scadenza del rullino non si esprimano appieno. Un esempio è la foto sopra, con TheNewGentleman e BlueGeco. Oppure questa, con mia madre versione rocker consumata.
Però l'inquadratura mi piace. Da angolo ad angolo. Chissà come mi è venuta. Io mica mi ricordo!
Altre foto invece hanno dato lampi di luce che non avevo notato al momento dello scatto. Sembra quasi che serva un paraluce. Però, potrebbe essere l'effetto LOMO anche questo no?
Intanto un nuovo rullino è già caricato. E Diana viene con me pure a New York. Promossa sul campo!
Nel frattempo il sabato musicale mi ha distratto dall'arrivo di un'altra piacevole sorpresa. Da Durham, Nord Carolina, America, è arrivato il kit per fotografia ad alta velocità con ritardante dello scatto. Insomma, una manna per chi fotografa oggetti in caduta libera, gocce d'acqua o semplici schianti di oggetti. Dovrò procurarmi delle lampadine rotte.
Fatto sta che il kit è qui ed è anche da montare. Interessante il fatto che lo vendono con breadboard, quel tipo di basetta cioè, che non necessita di saldature a stagno e basta semplicemente connettere i vari accessori. Poi chissà, potrebbe servire un semplice contatto wireless per far scattare il flash a distanza. Per ora cominciamo così però.
